Rare Books collects published materials emphasizing the history and development of the Texas-Mexico border region in general and the people, history, art, life, and literature of San Antonio and South Texas in particular.  The Rare Books Digital Collection includes selected materials in the areas of architecture, culinary history, and the development of tourism in San Antonio. Also included are some local newspapers and newsletters, as well as individual items from the collection of particular note.

San Antonio Newspapers and Newsletters

• El Pueblo Newspaper Independent, community-based newspaper published by a team of volunteers and distributed in the economically poor sectors of San Antonio, Texas (1979-1982).

• Bexar Tracks: the Newsletter of the Bexar Audubon Society. Bexar Audbon Society (BAS) is the local chapter of the National Audubon Society and focuses on advocacy and education on local conservation issues. Since 1983, BAS' newsletter has highlighted environmental issues on the local, state, and national level, as well as BAS fieldtrips and events.
